
Congratulation to Jeremiah Johnson Band with The Sliders, this year’s winner of the St. Louis Blues Society International Blues Challenge. Johnson and his band will represent St. Louis in a blues competition in Memphis, Tennessee in 2012.
Thanks to the other four bands that competed, Eugene Johnson and Company, Kingdom Brothers, Charles (Skeet) Rodgers with Ms. High C and the Inner City Blues Band and Bob Case and the St. Louis Tickle.
The venue was Kirkwood Station Brewing Company which featured great sound, atmosphere, and food.
Judges for the event were Jeff C with 88.1-KDHX ; Cornelius Washington with the St. Louis Rhythm & Blues Preservation Society and Vic Porcelli with fresh 102.5.
The St. Louis Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society co-sponsored Skeet Rodgers and the Inner City Blues Band at Valerie's Sit 'N' Sip Lounge located at 3701 Sullivan Street in St. Louis, Mo. in September, 2011.
Skeet Rodgers is a veteran R & B singer who has has entertained St. Louis audiences since the 1980s.

The mission of the Society is to preserve, recognize, and promote the heritage of rhythm and blues in the St. Louis region.
St. Louis holds a unique place in the history and development of this art form. As African Americans migrated from the southern states—particularly Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama—for better economic and social opportunities, St. Louis became one of primary stopping points for blues musicians.
Today, cities such as Cleveland and Memphis have Rock ‘n’ Roll museums; Memphis and Detroit have Soul Music museums; Chicago has a Blues museum; and New Orleans has a Jazz museum.
St. Louis is joining these cities as the St. Louis Rhythm and Blues Preservation Society recognizes R & B pioneers such as Bennie Smith, Marion “Little Walter” Jacobs, Chuck Berry, Fontella Bass, Ike & Tina Turner, Albert King, Little Milton and many others who helped put St. Louis on the musical map.
